🪧 Reading a gold shop price board
Buy vs. sell, bars vs. jewelry.
Licensed shops display the day’s association prices, usually four numbers:

| ทองคำแท่ง ขายออก | Gold bar — price the shop sells to you |
| ทองคำแท่ง รับซื้อ | Gold bar — price the shop pays you |
| ทองรูปพรรณ ขายออก | Jewelry — sell price, plus making charge |
| ทองรูปพรรณ รับซื้อ | Jewelry — buy-back price |
- Prices are per baht-weight, not per gram.
- The association may change prices several times a day (“ครั้งที่ 1, 2, 3…” = round 1, 2, 3).
- Bars have a small buy/sell spread; jewelry loses more (lower buy-back and the making charge is not refunded). Bars to store value, jewelry to wear.
- Common sizes: 1 salung (¼ baht), 2 salung (½ baht), 1, 2, 5, 10 baht.
